2019, cyanotype on fabric, metal pipes (installation view)

here is a floating fabric wall with a doorway through which you can walk. on the fabric are cyanotypes, photographic traces of local native plants, dirt, water, sunlight, and text. the form of the installation suggests a familiar architectural form, a threshold between outside and in; however, the walls are porous and change in response to the environment around them. notions of interior and exterior become blurry, as perhaps do “shelter” and “home”.

here is installed over a trail at the audubon center at debs park from may 4–june 8, 2019 as part of the group exhibition shelter, curated by kim abeles and marcos trinidad and presented by the arroyo arts collective.
